Which browsers does OuraFile work with?
Chrome 110 or newer and Chromium-based browsers such as Edge and Brave. OuraFile is not available for Firefox or Safari yet.
Does OuraFile read my files?
No. OuraFile only handles filenames and folder locations. It never reads, scans, encrypts or protects file contents.
Does it collect any data?
No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no remote servers or AI services. Settings and history stay in your browser, optionally synced through your own Chrome Sync.
Can I undo a rename?
Yes. Undo re-downloads the original address under its original name, then removes the renamed copy only after the new download succeeds. Expired links and blob: or data: addresses cannot be reliably undone.
Can I pause renaming on certain sites?
Yes. Switch off "This Site" in the popup to pause the current site. Remove it from the paused list in Settings to resume.
Can I export my settings?
Yes. Export your settings as JSON, import a backup on another browser, or reset to defaults. Importing ignores unsafe values and templates missing {slug}.
Does OuraFile encrypt or hide my files?
No. The name does not mean files are encrypted or hidden. OuraFile only renames and sorts. It never reads file contents.
